Our very jubilant Toastmaster meeting was hosted by TM Rahmat Tarsat who brought the meeting energy to an all-time high with her enthusiastic personality. She also shared her thought of the day ‘not everything that can be counted counts, not everything that counts can be counted.’ This was followed by the introduction of role players.
Our grammarian shared with us the Word of the Day ‘Jubilant’, which means showing of great joy or pride. It was a popular word for the evening with at least seven member using the word of the day.

Our timer, TM Awfa Nawawi, shared her thought: ‘being rich is having money, being wealthy is having time’.
TM Hidayati Haris deliver her thoughts on turning 30
Our first prepared speaker was TM Hidayati Haris doing her CC 3 speech “Lessons on Turning 30”. It was a speech on the life lessons she had learned for the past few years. Those three lessons are:
- We can plan all we want but it will eventually get messed up. It depends how we deal with it.

TM Gerald Goh sharing 3 simple steps to building a Zero Energy Home
Our second prepared speaker was TM Gerald Goh doing his CC 8 Speech “Zero Energy Home”. He shared a few methods in which we can build an energy efficient house by reducing the amount of heat absorbed into the house. Below are ways to reduce heat…
- The roof has to be made of brightly coloured clay roof tiles with a layer of aluminum sheets.
- Use triple-gazed or double-gazed windows.
- Place aluminum wall cladding on the walls or paint the walls white.
This would help reduce power consumption since air conditioners require less power to keep the house cool. Or: With less heat absorbed, less air conditioning is required. Therefore….

Rahul Breh, CC inspiring us with his CC10 speech
Our last prepared speaker was TM Rahul Breh doing his CC 10 Speech “Power of Openness”. Rahul shared stories of people who chose to be more open and they were:
- His uncle who owns a business in India.
- Mark Zuckerberg who created facebook.
- His grandmother who lives in the Himalayas.

These people who became more open changed their own lives and the lives of the people around them. His uncle and Mark Zuckerberg became wealthy while his grandmother learned how to read.

During the Table Topics Session we had four speakers who all spoke topics from the theme ‘Superpowers’. The speakers were:
