Toastmasters from Brunei (Area K6) which consisted of 20 members from Brunei Speakers’ Club, Brunei Advanced Speakers’ Club, Oil Town Toastmasters Club and Universiti Brunei Darussalam Toastmasters Club attended 3rd joint meeting with Toastmasters from Miri, Sarawak (Area E4) on the 14th June 2015 at Miri Boulevard Commercial Centre. Upon arrival, Brunei Toastmasters received a warm welcome from members of Oil Town Toastmasters Club, Kelab Pidato Toastmasters, Miri Toastmasters Club and Miri Advanced Toastmasters Club.

We started our meeting with the Humour Master (something new for us) where Brendan Ti, CC (UBD Toastmaster Club) entertained everyone with his humorous speech. This was followed by four Prepared Speeches from Miri and Brunei speakers where constructive evaluations were given after that. After a short break, Table Topic Session began when the Table Topic Master asked speakers to pick a coin and gave an impromptu speech based on a significant event that happened on the particular year that was printed on the coin. At the end of the meeting, we have observed how a meeting was conducted differently outside Brunei and we shared how we can help each other grow with a promise of visiting each other’s club for future joint meeting.
In Brunei, we valued Joint meetings because we are able to share new experiences, different ideas, alternative ways of conducting meetings, and meet new friends. At the end of the day, all the members came back with a valuable experience and cherished memories.
