MORE than 30 Brunei Toastmasters members went to Labuan recently to support Reuben Chin in the Table Topics and International Speech Division Level competitions.
Table Topics is an impromptu speech where participants speak off the cuff on the assigned topics for one to two minutes. Competition begins with club contests and winners continue competing through the area, division and district levels.
The prestigious international speech contest then has two additional levels – semi-final and the World Championship of Public Speaking.
A representative from Brunei Speakers’ Club was the first to represent Brunei last year and was among the finalists of the World Championship of Public Speaking.

This year, Rueben Chin after competing with top members from other Toastmasters Clubs in Brunei, represented Brunei in the division level. He has achieved first runner-up position in both Table Topics and International Speech Division Level.
Upon receiving his awards, Reuben thanked the Brunei Toastmasters for their support during the Division K International Speech and Table Topics competition in Labuan. He also expressed his ambition to achieve a better outcome in the next round of competitions.
