TOP speakers from local clubs competed recently in Brunei’s International Speech and Table Topics Contest Division Level at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) on 8th March 2015.
Contestants
The representatives were from the Brunei Speakers’ Club, UBD Toastmasters Club, Oil Town Talkers Toastmasters club and Brunei Advanced Speakers’ Club.
The guest of honour was Puan Rubiah binti Yakub, Assistant Vice Chancellor Corporate and Administration Registrar and Secretary, UBD.
This year, Reuben Chin emerged champion of both International Speech and Table Topics Contest.
For the International Speech Contest, the first runner-up was Pranika Lama while the second runner-up was Melati Dato Paduka Haji Yusoff.

For the Table Topics Contest, the first runner-up was Hajah Siti Rozana Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, followed by Jason Koo in third.

Reuben Chin will be representing Brunei in the Division Level in Labuan on March 28 and 29.
Reuben wows the audiences
Competition begins with club contests and winners continue competing through the area, division and district levels. The prestigious international speech contest then has two additional levels – semi-final and the World Championship of Public Speaking. Last year, Chris Woo was the first Toastmaster who represented Brunei and entered the finals of the World Championship of Public Speaking.
More than 30 members will also be going to Labuan to support Reuben.
