Speech contests are a Toastmasters tradition. Each year, more than 30,000 Toastmasters compete in one or more of the following contests:
Humorous – Contestants present a humorous speech that must be thematic in nature (opening, body, and close), not a monologue (series of one-liners).
Evaluation – Contestants observe a five-to seven-minute test speech and then present a two-to three-minute evaluation of the test speech.
Competition begins at the club level, and winners advance to the area, division and district levels.
Contestants for Humorous Speech and Evaluation
On 25th August 2015, The Brunei Speaker’s Club held its Humorous speech and Evaluation contest (Club Level) at UBD Inspiring Hall. The competition drew 9 contestants for humourous and another 9 contestants for evaluation. 3 winners from each category were placed and the top 2 winners will represent the club at Area Contest which will be held on 13th September, 1 PM at Oil and Gas Discovery Centre in Seria.
